In this class students have the opportunity to transfer a two dimensional image of their choosing into a block of glass. In order to do this, we start by breaking the image down into multiple layers, or levels, for example the background, middle ground and foreground. The images are then transferred onto individual sheets of glass using a stencil and paint. Once the images are transferred, some final shading is done with glass powder to create more depth and detail. When all the layers are complete, they are stacked together and loaded into a kiln and melted together into one block of glass, which will show the full image.

This project will move beyond the basics fusing and slumping skills and incorporate coldworking techniques. You will effectively utilize the fusing studio in conjunction with the cold shop to perfect exciting new skills. You will be encouraged to let your own style shine through. Expect to work hard in the cold shop as well as the fusing studio and take home art you will be proud of.
*Tuition: $300
Class Registration
This technique utilizes a material called fiber paper which allows you to very easily cut out a pattern or image. The pattern or image is then placed into a kiln with a glass panel on top. During the firing the glass melts down onto the image or pattern. Once the panel has cooled it can be shaped into a plate of bowl using a slump mold.
