Frequently Asked Questions:

What is your rental fee?

Our rental rates vary depending on the day of the week and the space needed. For less than 100 guests clients may rent the Hot Shop Gallery Sunday-Thursday for $800 or Friday-Saturday for $1200.

For larger groups the entire space (both the Hot Shop and the East Galleries) may be rented; $2000 Sunday-Thursday, $1200 Friday-Saturday. For details regarding capacity please see our Event Rental Information Packet.

All facility rentals include 60" round dinner tables and black padded chairs. An event manager and a parking lot attendant is also included. Beverage service must be provided by Third Degree at a separate charge.

What do I do to reserve the space?

In order to secure the space for a particular date, a nonrefundable Reservation Deposit of $300 must be submitted along with a signed contract and a refundable $300 Security Deposit. Third Degree will tentatively hold the date for one week (7 days) without payments or a signed contract. Once the 7 days has expired if no payment has been received Third Degree reserves the right to book the date with another client.

Why are linens a separate charge?

This gives you the option of who will supply your linens based on your budget and preference. You may arrange to bring your own linens, have your caterer supply them or simply order them through Third Degree. Linen prices vary depending on size, style and color. Ask your Event Manager for a complete price list.

Do I have to pick a caterer from your preferred list?

No, while we have a list of caterers who we love to have back time and time again you may provide one of your own choosing. If a caterer is not on our list a Catering Contract must be signed and on file 30 days prior to your event.

What if my guests don't drink alcohol, do we still have to have a bar?

Yes, Third Degree offers a non-alcoholic bar option for those who do not wish to have alcohol at their event. Because we have our own liquor license all beverage service (alcoholic or not) MUST be provided through Third Degree. Absolutely no outside beverages may be brought onto the premises without the consent of Third Degree.

Can we offer our guests something fun to do during our event?

We offer several different options for "entertaining" your guests. We offer narrated private demonstrations for $75 an hour with a room rental. If you're looking for something a little more "hands-on" your guests can make guided paperweights for $25 per person or glass tiles/magnets for $20 per person. Final numbers must be submitted 30 days prior to the event, limited availability. Please see guidelines for more details.

Is your facility air conditioned?

The facility is air conditioned.  However, due to the nature of glass-blowing and the high temperature melting furnace, it is very difficult for us to effectively cool the space.  We are able to effectively cool the East Gallery, and we do our best to make the Hotshop Gallery comfortable.  If you are looking for "ice-cold" air conditioned space in the summer months, we aren't the best choice.

Do you have Audio/Visual equipment we can use?

For a $50 Audio/Visual rental fee, clients may have access to our projector and screen, iPod hookup, CD player and microphone. This system works best for short announcements, slide show/video presentations, and/or background music. The system is not intended to be used as a substitute for a band or DJ. *Please note DJ's and other musicians will NOT be able to "plug in" to our system.

Why can't we have live music in the Hot Shop Gallery?

Out of respect to our residental neighbors live music is restricted in the Hot Shop Gallery. Other "background music" from an iPod, CD or laptop computer is acceptable with an Audio/Visual rental fee.

Can we store items (decorations, party favors, centerpieces, etc.) at your facility?

Third Degree does not allow any items to be dropped off earlier than 2 hours prior to any event. Additionally we do not allow any items to be left over night after an event. Any items that are left behind are subject to disposal by Third Degree Staff.

What if I want to have my event during the day?

We allow rental times during normal business hours however our gallery stays open to the public. Clients should be aware that customers might walk in to browse our gallery and/or artists may be working in the studio.

When can I come see the space?

We are open to the public Monday-Saturday from 10am-5pm. Clients are more than welcome to stop by anytime during normal business hours to browse the gallery, watch artists work and check out the event space. If you would like to make a formal appointment with Rachael McCormick, our Event Manager, please call 314-367-4527 x204 or email your request. Appointments are generally  made on Thursdays.
